Privacy Policy

Effective date: February 18, 2026 · Last updated: February 18, 2026

1. Introduction

Hordago Labs (“we”, “us”, or “our”) operates BioContext7, a public bioinformatics tool registry and MCP server. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights. BioContext7 does not require user accounts or authentication, and collects minimal personal information.

2. What the Service Is

BioContext7 is a public registry of 2,000+ bioinformatics tools. The registry data itself is public-domain metadata aggregated from open sources (bio.tools, Bioconductor, BioConda, BioContainers). There are no user accounts, no login system, and no authentication.

3. Information We Collect

3.1 Standard Web Analytics

Our website is hosted on Vercel. Vercel may collect standard web analytics data including:

  • IP addresses (processed by Vercel infrastructure, not stored by us)
  • Pages visited and referral URLs
  • Browser type and operating system

We do not operate our own analytics pipeline or log retention system. Any analytics are provided by Vercel's standard hosting infrastructure.

3.2 Information We Do Not Collect

  • We do not collect names, emails, or any registration data (there are no accounts)
  • We do not collect payment information (the service is free)
  • Source code from your projects or pipelines
  • Contents of files processed by bioinformatics tools
  • Protected Health Information (PHI)

4. How We Use Information

  • Serve the website and MCP server
  • Monitor uptime and performance via Vercel's infrastructure
  • Improve tool rankings and search relevance using aggregated, anonymous patterns

We do not sell personal information to third parties. We do not use visitor data to train machine learning models.

5. Cookies and Tracking

BioContext7 does not set first-party cookies for authentication or session management (there are no user sessions). Vercel's hosting infrastructure may set standard cookies for performance and security purposes. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings.

6. Data Sharing

We share data only with our hosting provider (Vercel) as part of standard website operation. We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or government request.

7. Data Retention

We do not maintain user accounts, so there is no account data to retain or delete. Standard server logs generated by Vercel are subject to Vercel's privacy policy.

8. Data Security

All traffic to BioContext7 is encrypted in transit via TLS. The service is hosted on Vercel's infrastructure, which provides standard security protections. Since we do not collect or store personal data, the risk profile is minimal.

9. Infrastructure and Data Location

BioContext7 is hosted on Vercel with US-based infrastructure. Since we do not collect personal data or maintain user accounts, cross-border data transfer concerns do not apply to user-provided information.

10. Data Removal Requests

BioContext7 aggregates publicly available documentation from open-source bioinformatics registries. If you are the author or maintainer of a tool indexed by BioContext7 and wish to have your content removed, you may submit a removal request.

How to Request Removal

Send an email to removal@biocontext7.com with the following information:

  • The tool name and registry source (e.g., bio.tools, PyPI, Bioconda)
  • Evidence of ownership or maintainership (e.g., a link to your profile on the source registry)
  • Whether you want the tool metadata, documentation chunks, or both removed

Removal Process

  1. We acknowledge your request within 2 business days
  2. We verify your ownership of the tool
  3. Upon verification, we remove the tool metadata and documentation chunks within 7 days
  4. The tool is added to our internal exclusion list to prevent re-indexing

Scope of Removal

Removal covers all data we store for the specified tool, including:

  • Tool metadata (name, description, EDAM annotations, version history)
  • Documentation chunks used for search and retrieval
  • FAIR scoring data derived from the tool's metadata

11. Your Rights

Since BioContext7 does not collect personal data or maintain user accounts, there is generally no personal data for us to access, correct, or delete. If you believe we hold any personal information about you, contact us and we will investigate and respond within 30 days.

12. Children's Privacy

BioContext7 is a professional bioinformatics tool registry not directed at individuals under 16. Since we do not collect personal information, no special provisions for children's data apply.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy periodically. Changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
